August 5th 1955 – October 30th 2016

Raymond passed away suddenly on October 30th at the age of 61,
with his beloved Rocky by his side.

Ray was born in Edmonton, Alberta, the youngest child to Betty and Arthur Gledhill. He spent his childhood on RCAF stations across Canada, before his family settled in Calgary in 1967, where he became a proud member of Boy Scouts Canada, the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and graduated from high school. After graduation he secured a position with Alberta Correction Services at Spy Hill Correctional Centre, where he was stationed until 1988. Leaving corrections he transferred to the Alberta Sheriff’s Branch becoming Alberta first official sheriff. Raymond retired from the Alberta Government in 2010 at which time he began perusing his first love of dog training.

Ray’s first love was unquestionably, his love of animals and more notably his dogs.
You never saw him without a fur baby by his side, whether it be camping with family or visiting friends, one was always with him. He was dedicated to many organization involving the welfare, care and rescue of animals, most notably, PAWS and ARF and well as countless others.

Ray was a very private person, with a unique and rare sense of humour, loving to joke and tease but always willing to give help to anyone in need.

He is and always will be profoundly missed by family and friends.

Ray was predeceased by his Father – Fred Arthur (Art),
and his beloved fur babies,
Shadow, Misty, Akelah, Halo, Rudy, and Ottis,

He has left to mourn:
His mother; Betty, sisters; Carol (Gary), Arlene (Stan) and brother; Paul (Sharron).
His daughter; Jody (Earl) and granddaughter: Amira, Son; Gregory (Janice)
as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and countless friends.

A Goodbye Gathering will be held on
Sunday, December 4th 2016
1:00 – 4:00 pm
At the Bowden Friendship Centre
