McFalls, William (Bill) John Beresford

April 26, 1915 – April 26, 2014

On Saturday April 26th 2014, Bill McFalls of Hanna passed away peacefully at the age of 99 years.

Bill is survived by his loving wife and companion of more than 75 years, Mabel, sons Jim (Sonia), Barrie (Linda) and Brian (Karen), 5 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Robert, and sisters Peggy and Beth.

Bill was born in Calgary, and was a long term resident of Hanna, where he met and fell in love with Mabel Gilbertson; they were married in 1938.

During World War II Bill served as an Air Engine Mechanic with the RCAF Training Squadron. He was stationed throughout Canada, and where accommodation was available was accompanied by Mabel and son Jim. Following the war, the family returned to Hanna where Bill returned to work at the Central Garage. He later worked with Special Areas in Youngstown, and returned to Hanna where he continued to work with the Alberta Government as District Officer for Social Services.

Since his retirement, Bill was an active volunteer in Hanna. His work at the Pioneer Museum gave him great pleasure; he continued to work there as long as he was able. He also loved golfing, curling, family gatherings, and camping trips. Bill attended the Hanna Alliance Church for over 50 years.

The family wishes to thank the Hanna Lodge, and the Hanna Hospital for the compassionate care that they gave our Dad. Special thanks to Pastor Paul Warnock for so much help and kindness.
