Obituary for Terrance Donald "Terry" Rees

Terrance Donald "Terry" Rees
REES
Terry Rees of Sundre, passed away March 14, 2016 after a short but courageous battle with cancer with his wife Joanne and daughter Vicki by his side at the age of 68 years. He was born August 16, 1947 in Edmonton the son of Donald and Violet Rees. He attended high school in Ponoka and then moved to Manitoba where he began his 40 year career as a parts manager. He married Joanne Nabe on January 10, 1975 and together they had two daughters Dawn and Vicki. Terry worked for International Harvester in Melita, Manitoba before moving to Olds and working at Broyce International for the next 20 years. Terry then went to Hildebrandt Motors and then Sundre Motors where he retired at 67. Terry was a very quiet and reserved but well respected man with a great sense of humor. He put 110% into everything he did in his life. Terry loved skidoo trips to the mountains with his good friend Johnny Iversen and pals. He enjoyed camping with his family and settled down with Joanne buying a permanent spot west of Sundre where they spent many years enjoying the peace and quiet with the faithful Labrador dogs by their side. Terry had a great love for labradors and spent many years with Joanne field training, attending dog shows and raising puppies. The last 10 years, Terry enjoyed his road trips with Joanne driving their TransAm convertible on hot summer days cranking up Rod Stewart and Tina Turner. For many years, Terry loved ending his summer with his annual trip to the Radium Car show in the convertible with Joanne. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered. Special thanks to the Sundre Hospital doctors and nurses for their compassionate care. Terry especially loved his favorite nurse Tessa who took the time to sit with him on her days off. Thank you to all who visited, phone calls, flowers and kind words during our time of sorrow. Terry is survived by his loving wife Joanne; daughter Vicki Rees (Kelly Needham); granddaughters Kar-Lee Wick and Jaydon Davis; mother Violet Rees; sister Trudy Lewis; sister-in-law Davelda (Dick) Baker; niece Suzanne Lewis as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Donald Rees. In keeping with Terry’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Sundre Hospital Palliative Care.
