It is with heavy hearts that we say good-bye to Ervin Hausher who passed away on Friday March 25, 2016 at the age of 90 years. Ervin was born on July 23, 1925 at Castor AB., grew up in Scapa and worked with the Canadian National Railway until 1948. On October 24, 1948 he married the love of his life Ruby Steinbrecher, and then moved to Endiang to start farming and raise their family. Ervin also drove school bus for Endiang students for 27 years. He enjoyed playing his accordion with friends for many community dances in the area as well as playing hockey, hard ball, camping, fishing and curling. After 45 years of farming he retired and enjoyed 13 years of being a snowbird in Arizona where he continued to stay active golfing and playing senior’s slow pitch on two teams.
Ervin was a gentle quiet person that loved his family very much. He was predeceased by his daughters Cheryl in 1973 and Carol in 1994, his parents George and Elizabeth Hausher and brother Ken Hausherr.
He leaves to cherish his memory Ruby, his loving and devoted wife of 67 years, His son Lloyd (Audrey) Hausher of Duchess and Grandchildren/great grandchildren Jeff (Wendy) Fortna of Hanna and their daughter Jillian, Jaime (Levi) Honeker of Sylvan Lake and their children Nate and Emerson, Lacey Fortna of Edmonton, Candice (Devon) Buteau of Brooks and their children Russell, Cody and Jetta, Kristy (Brian) Bidyk of Calgary and their children Madison, Tyler and Courtney, Son-in-law Doug (Ruth) Fortna of Hanna and Megan Fortna. He also leaves to mourn 2 sisters Gladys McDonald of Calgary and Louise Blakey of Edmonton and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held in Hanna at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 2, 2016 at St. George’s Catholic Church. Fellowship will follow at the Senior’s Circle.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a memorial tribute directly to a charity of their choice.
