Obituary for Audrey Kathleen Molendyk

MOLENDYK
Audrey Molendyk, beloved wife of John, passed away peacefully at the Olds Hospital on November 28, 2010 at the age of 78 years. Audrey was born April 29, 1932 in High River and she was the youngest of 5 children born to Stan & Lillian Osmond. Audrey was raised on a farm in the Gladys Ridge area. During the school year the family resided in Okotoks. Audrey was involved in the United Church and was part of the CGIT program. After completing school, Audrey worked in the CIBC bank in High River, a job that she thoroughly enjoyed. In 1949, Audrey met a young man, John Molendyk at a country dance and they were married on August 6, 1952 in Okotoks. John and Audrey lived at Halkirk and Okotoks before buying their farm at Three Hills in 1956. Audrey enjoyed playing the piano, being a member of the Allingham Ladies Club and teaching Sunday School. She also took great pride in her vegetable garden, flower beds, feeding chickens, cooking, baking and her home canning. In 1981, Audrey, John and youngest son Brian, moved to Wanham where they bought a farm and resided for 7 years. John and Audrey retired in 1988 moving back to Olds. Family life was of the utmost importance to Audrey. She enjoyed having a good visit and she treasured special moments she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandson participating in their birthdays and special occasions. Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John; her children Kathy (Wayne) Stuber of Medicine Hat; Jan (Sandy) Molendyk of Three Hills; Brian Molendyk & wife Helen Cronkhite of Grande Prairie; grandchildren Jennifer Stuber of Brooks, Brant (Candace) Stuber of Medicine Hat, Scott Molendyk of Blackfalds, Mark Molendyk of Lethbridge, Jacob and Ben Molendyk of Grande Prairie; great-grandson Caden Stuber; sister Doreen (Walter) Fossum of Consort and brother Doug (Myrtle) Osmond of Bowden along with a large and loving extended family. Audrey was predeceased by her parents, brothers Ken and Bernard and her grandson Matthew. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Olds United Church with Reverend Dong Chun Seo officiating.
