Obituary for Allan Clinton Lamson

LAMSON, ALLAN
Allan was born July 31, 1952 and peacefully passed away May 5, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Allan leaves behind his loving wife Marlene of 43 years. Their sons, Greg (Sharene), Brad (Kathy), Trevor and his 5 most precious grandchildren – Keeley, Adley, Jada, Thatcher, and Adelle; his mother Evange, sisters; Brenda (Keith) Campion, Lois (Brian) Chamberlain, Sharon (Tim) Annas, Wilda Housch, Deb (Brent) Olmstead and brothers Doug and Steve Lamson along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by his father Earl and sister Linda.
Allan was born and raised in Hanna. Through his childhood years he was involved in many sports but his love was hockey. At a young age Allan delivered the Calgary Herald which lead to the rest of the brothers and sisters becoming carriers too. Allan’s three sons continued the tradition and delivered the Calgary Herald for years in Hanna. After High School, Allan worked the rigs, before moving to Calgary to work at JK Campbell Sheet Metal. It was then when he met Marlene through a mutual friend. A couple of years later the two were married and by then Allan had started working for AGT. Allan worked in Calgary for 5 years then transferred to Three Hills. While in Three Hills they started their family and made many friends along the way. As the boys grew they followed in their dad’s footsteps playing sports. Hockey seemed to be their choice of sport, just like their dad. Allan soon became a hockey coach. He coached the boys in Three Hills and when they moved to Hanna in 1990, he kept on coaching. Besides hockey Allan enjoyed camping, fishing, taking his boat out water skiing and socializing with all his friends. Allan retired from Telus in 2007 and enjoyed retirement. Not long after Marlene and Allan discovered what the meaning of Snow Bird is. They would pack up and head down south for a few of the winter months, but were happy to get back home because they were missing their grandchildren. Allan enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren and loved teasing the older ones. He will be sadly missed by his family and his many friends.
The family expresses their gratitude to The Drumheller Cancer Centre, Tom Baker Cancer Centre and The Hanna Hospital for all their care given to Allan over the past few months.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either Tom Baker Cancer Centre 1331- 29 ST NW Calgary AlbertaT2N 4N2 or Drumheller Cancer Centre 351 9St NW, Drumheller, Ab T0J 0Y1.
Celebration of life will be on May 18, 2016 at the Hanna Community Centre at 1:00.
