Obituary for Howard Raymond ""Howie"" Milligan

Howard Raymond ""Howie"" Milligan
Howard (Howie) Raymond Milligan
November 3, 1934 - December 17, 2016

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Howie. He passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Care Centre with his family by his side during his brief battle with cancer.
Howard leaves to mourn his wife of 22 years, Jean Veldkamp, daughter Sherri Milligan (Greg Morrell), grandchildren Kai and Kiana, stepsons Lionel (Joanne) Veldkamp, Brian (Trudy) Veldkamp, stepdaughter Pam(Chris) Mitchell, step-grandchildren, Ryan (Alison), Derek (Desiree), Cameron, Shelby, Shayla, Janelle and Jayden and great-granddaughter Paisley. He also leaves to mourn 6 sisters and 5 brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Raymond and Violet, 1 sister and 3 brothers.
Howie was born in Carrot River, Saskatchewan, the eldest of 16 children. As a young man he moved to Alberta to work driving heavy equipment and trucks in the construction industry where he was a member of the Teamster’s Union. Howie was a kind, good natured man and loved the company of family, neighbours and his favourite cat Boots. He loved tinkering and spent many hard working hours in the gardens and sharing his harvest. When Howie wasn't in the yard he enjoyed being a pool shark; playing a few hands of cards; watching wrestling among many other sports; and the occasional trip to the local casino.
He enjoyed his semi-annual trips to BC and Sask. to visit family, as well as exploring Canada, the USA, Europe, and the various favourite Motor-coach tours with his wife Jean.
Cremation has been entrusted to Heartland Funeral Home, Innisfail. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Innisfail Library on Saturday, April 29, 2017 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to a charity of the donor’s choice.
