Obituary for David Henry Geddert

David Henry  Geddert
David Henry Geddert was born to Henry and Maria Geddert on January 14, 1934 on a farm near Codette, SK. He passed away peacefully in Innisfail, AB on January 11, 2015.

Dave grew up in several farming communities in Saskatchewan and Alberta. He left home and school at a young age, began working, and continued to work well into his 70's. His work included ranch hand, farming, trucking, but carpentry was his profession and passion.He modeled a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. He was a creative man, and expressed this in his poetry.

In 1960, Dave married Evelyn Hanson, and soon started their family. They raised five children in central Alberta; largely in the Bentley area. Family time was often spent camping and fishing.

Dave is survived by Evelyn Geddert, their three sons, two daughters and their families; Don Geddert, Nathan and Troy; Ron and Carolyn Geddert, Beth, Clay, and Chloe; Jan and Len Thiessen, Jacob, Clare, and Quinn; Brian Geddert; Karen Geddert and Jake Penner, Gabe and Benn

Also survived by one brother Henry (May), sisters Sara Christopher, Martha Striker, and Linda (Ken) Bright, and brother in law Abe Warkentin.

Dave was predeceased by his parents Henry and Maria; brothers Peter and Ben; sisters Lena, Katie Janzen, and Mary Warkentin: and infant granddaughter Maria Geddert. He was also predeceased by numerous in laws.

A Memorial Service will be held at Innisfail Alliance Church #25, 4804 - 42 Avenue Innisfail, AB on Friday, January 16th at 2pm with Reverend Will Wiens officiating.
