Obituary for Rick Desrochers

Rick Desrochers
1933 – 2016
Mr. Rick Desrochers of Innisfail passed away at home on May 1, 2016 at the age of 83 years. Rick was born in Mariapolis, MB., on April 15, 1933. He was the second son and third eldest to Rosa & Aldie Desrochers. After spending his childhood in the region he joined Manitoba Hydro at the age of 16. Rick met Mary Timko in 1951 and they wed December 17, 1952. Rick’s career spanned 20 years with Manitoba Hydro and 20 years farming in Baldur where he raised his family. He remained on the farm until 1979 and then relocated to Calgary, working for Calgary City Electric and retiring to Lac La Nonne in 1993 and moved to Innisfail in 2013. Rick loved to golf, jam at campfires, showing his 1930 Model A Coupe and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Mary; son Brian (Brenda) of Peachland, B.C., and daughter Kimberly (Ken) of Calgary; grandsons Damian and Clint (Kiera), granddaughters Danielle and Holly (Devon), 5 great granddaughters and one great grandson; brother Fern (Margarit) Desrochers and sister Rita (Ernie) Brule. He is predeceased by his parents Rosa & Aldie Desrochers, sisters Edme Benoit, Nora Godin and infant sister Imelda Desrochers and son Deryl Desrochers.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:00pm. Memorial Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
