Obituary for Karen Rachelle Henze

Karen Rachelle Henze
HENZE
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Henze (Dahl) on September 4, 2017 at the age of 70 years old after a brief illness. Karen was born on December 19, 1947 to parents John and Edna Dahl in Cedarville, Michigan. She loved to climb trees and dote on her little brother Billy. Karen called Sundre her home with her husband Joe for most of her adult life and spent many years working at the Sundre Hotel. She took great pride in her work at the hotel and loved being able to work alongside her husband. Karen was quiet by nature and preferred to live a private life; those who knew her would say that she was generous with her time, was always kind and had a humble spirit. Her greatest joys in life were raising her only son William, tropical vacations in Mexico, and spending time at home with Joe. Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband Joe Henze of Sundre; son William Baker of Edmonton; sisters Judy (Jack)Darga and Mary Prentler; brothers Gary and Carl Dahl as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all from Michigan. Karen also welcomed the addition of Joe’s children into her life, including Erwin Henze of Calgary, Kevin Henze of Nova Scotia, Lynn Henze (Tiffany Boyd) of Didsbury and Kathleen MacIntyre of Airdrie along with their children Megan, Jeff, Justin, Garrett, Samantha and Katelyn. The family will be holding a private family service at the request of Karen. A Celebration of Life Reception was held at Faith Lutheran Church for those who would like to pay their respect to Karen’s family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Karen’s honor to a charity of choice. The family wishes to extend a thank you to the doctors and nurses at Sundre Hospital for their care of Karen in her final days. Words alone cannot even express just how much you are loved and missed. Missing you always, remembering you forever. You may be gone from our sight but you are never gone from our heart. We remember now in love, your life from start to end, and we’re just glad we knew you as a mother, a wife, a friend.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
