Life with Andrew at Camp Little Red

I met Andrew at CLR in June 2014. We met at a camp workers weekend to get ready for the summer camps of 2014. Andrew caught my attention right away. I could see Jesus in Andrew quite easily. We played guitar together at the back of the chapel every day. He was my go to guy besides Met 1. He reminded me of a younger Met 1. We spent lots of free time conversing over many topics that summer. When I went to Ontario for a holiday, I came back to CLR with an Official Toronto Blue Jays pop can sleeve for Andrew. He was the only person God struck upon me to bring home a give to. Andrew was so appreciative & surprised by the gift. I came home with an Official Toronto Blue Jays ball cap. I wanted to get one for Andrew too, but I couldn't afford it and I didn't have his head circumference to get the right size for him. However, he did drool over mine as I showed it to him. Andrew was always very helpful, kind, respectful, patient & generous with me. He taught me the ropes of camp life at CLR since it was my first summer volunteering there. My favourite time with Andrew was when he drove the tractor pulling the wagon coming down the road and forgetting to stop at my cabin to pick me up for water sports and the whole wagon full of kids yelling at Andrew to stop and let me on the wagon. I laughed so hard at the expression on Andrew's face when he realized he had forgotten me and finally stopped the tractor so I could run and hop on the wagon. Andrew touched my heart with how much he cared for his campers and their walk with Jesus. He was such a good role model for the campers and the staff. Andrew never made feel old or not useful to the camp. He respected his elder so well. He was very patient with me as I had just learned to walk without a cane after breaking my pelvis in two places. You could tell he was raised with good manners. God brought Andrew to my mind and heart many times since working with him so I prayed for Andrew every time. I was happy for his walk with Jesus, that he was going to University and some goals he had set for himself. I didn't always know why I was praying but that I needed to pray for Andrew. My life has been blessed and richer to know such a nice, young man who loved the Lord. Andrew was great at making me laugh. Whether it was something a camper said or did or Andrew showing me his slap stick humor through his clumsy, little accidents. There was never a dull moment when Andrew was around. I'm glad you're with Jesus, Andrew but I'm sad you're not here anymore. You are going to be missed my friend. With love & prayers, Kookaburra (Georgie Edgar)
