JENSEN, (Nels) Eric, P.Eng.
August 13, 1942 - March 1, 2017
"Love life and enjoy the journey" - Eric Jensen
Eric passed away peacefully at the Olds Hospital at the age of 74, following a battle with cancer. Eric was born in Olds to Hans and Anna Jensen, and was brought up on a farm in nearby Eagle Hill together with his five siblings. He and his newly wed wife Noreen bought the family farm from his parents in 1974 where they went on to raise their own three children. Eric's long and interesting career as an Agricultural Engineer and Entrepreneur included projects which circled the globe and offered the opportunity to relocate his young family for a time to Barbados, saving them all from the bitter Canadian winters for several years. His most successful invention was a line of solar powered pumps which enriched countless lives by providing fresh water for people and livestock in remote locations, both locally and internationally in developing countries. Eric was loved by many and was well known for his sense of adventure, humour, gift of story-telling, humanitarianism, and general love of life. Eric will be greatly missed by his wife Noreen and his children April, John, and Michelle (Bryan), his Granddaughter Mikaela and his siblings Carl, Michael, Mary Ann, and their families. Eric was predeceased by his two elder brothers, Chris and John, and his parents, Hans and Anna. A celebration of life will be held at the Eagle Hill Community Centre on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made in honour of Eric, to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
