Obituary for Erna Henrietta Wettlaufer

Erna Henrietta Wettlaufer
WETTLAUFER
After a courageous fight with leukemia Erna was welcomed home into the loving arms of her Lord on January 3, 2017. Erna was born in Wetaskiwin and grew up on a farm near Millet. Erna met a handsome gentleman from the east by way of Ontario while he was working in Wetaskiwin. Erna and Willard were married on June 21, 1958. They moved to Didsbury where they raised their family. Erna loved spending time with family and friends; anything from a visit over a cup of coffee to a card game or spending time together during the Holidays (even when her kids made her do the cooking). She loved preparing favorite special dishes and numerous baked goodies for us all to enjoy. Family was everything to her and she was everything to our family. Erna had a passion for gardening and tending to her flowers. She was naturally gifted to encourage flowers to bloom beautifully and a vegetable garden that always produced. It was often commented; "If you were having a problem with a plant Erna and her green thumb will help it grow." Among her many talents she also enjoyed knitting, sewing and crocheting. This was passed down from her Mom and many are fortunate to have items that Erna lovingly made, from a simple dish towel, a sweater, warm mittens, to beautiful quilts and bedspreads. Erna is lovingly remembered by her husband Willard; children Neil (Tonya), Shelly, Mark; grandchildren Meaghan, Josephine, Kaitlynn; brother Norman and sister's in law Barbara and Verna along with numerous nieces and nephews all of which she was very, very fond of. She is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Selma Lentz, brothers, Alfred and Harry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Olds with Pastor John Lentz officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes be made to the Children's Make A Wish Foundation or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Olds. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Olds entrusted with arrangements. 403-507-8610 weww.heartlandfuneralservices.com
