Obituary for Delbert Ross Sirr

Delbert Ross Sirr
SIRR
Delbert Ross Sirr was born December 6, 1952 in Calgary to David & Diane Sirr. Delbert loved to build pipelines. He started with HENUSET two days after he graduated from Cremona High School in 1971. He worked his way up, from laborer to sideboom operator, and eventually foreman. Unfortunately, this work took him away from home in Didsbury and his two adorable daughters, Penny and Christy. In 1991, he took to job of bending engineer on the Shell Caroline Project. This afforded him the ability to buy Skipping Rock Lane, the waterfront acreage at Boswell, B.C. A neighbor, Charlette Hewitt, said, "There is no place nicer on Kootenay Lake than this place." Delbert started work as a pipeline inspector in 1997. This was also the year that he met his partner, Shirley who remained by his side for the remainder of his life in Edmonton. Shirley and Delbert made numerous trips to her home province of Newfoundland. He made many good friends and loved both the Newfoundland scenery and hospitality. Delbert was blessed to have five grandchildren: Damon, Andrew, Quinton, Tyler and Jessica. Being diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer two days before Christmas in 2015, was a real shock. He passed away January 1, 2017 at the age of 64 years. Funeral services were held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at the Church Of God, Carstairs with Pastor Harry Hoehne officiating. Interment followed in the Carstairs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Didsbury entrusted with arrangements. 403-335-4773 www.heartlandfuneralservices.com
