Obituary for Richard Gregory Morgan
Richard G. Morgan passed away in Hanna, Alberta on Friday November 25th, 2016 at the age of 68.
Richard was born in Lloydminster, SK on June 25, 1948 and was raised on the family farm near Marsden, SK. In 1971 he married Carol Birdsall and started a family in Two Hills, AB; with the birth of Brad in 1974 and Sheldon in 1976. They soon relocated to Hanna where Richard worked with Revelstoke Lumber. Two more sons were born, Justin in 1981, and Jonathan in 1982. In 1983, Richard started Morgan’s Floor Coverings, a business he ran for almost 30 years. A nature lover, he enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening and camping with family and friends.
Richard is survived by his sister Carole (Jon) Proctor of Marsden, Saskatchewan; two brothers: Donald (Mildred) Morgan of Spruce Grove, Alberta, and Ray (Lisa) Morgan of Marsden, Saskatchewan; brother in law: Ron Birdsall of Kerrobert, SK; four sons: Bradley (Tracy) Morgan of Hanna, Alberta; Sheldon Morgan of Hanna, Alberta; Justin (Kim) Morgan of Hanna, Alberta; Jonathan Morgan of Hanna, Alberta; four grandchildren: Dale Morgan of Calgary, Alberta; Ryan Morgan of Guelph, Ontario; Taevia and Shaye Morgan of Hanna, Alberta.
Richard was predeceased by his wife Carol; parents, Llewelyn and Dorothy Morgan; and his brother Kenny Morgan.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at 1:00 P.M., at the First United Church in Hanna, Alberta. Richard will be laid to rest at the Wycollar Cemetery, near Marsden, Saskatchewan.
Donations in memory of Richard can be made to Crohn’s and Colitis of Canada, 3100, 246 Stewart Green SW, Calgary, AB, T3H 3C8, or Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 29 ST NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 4N2.
