Obituary for Ernest Lawrence "Ernie" Schneidmiller

Ernest Lawrence Schneidmiller
Ernie was born in Olds on October 5, 1947, to Victor and Jean Schneidmiller of Sundre, and passed away on November 18, 2016, at the age of 69. He was the first born child, and arrived prematurely, weighing only 2 ½ pounds. He didn’t stay small long, and was up to par weight wise, in no time at all, thanks to his healthy appetite. Ernie was raised on the farm west of Sundre, and went to school at the McDougal Flats School , which was a one room school house , with Mrs.Fay Corless as the teacher. After completing his grade nine there, he decided that was enough “learning” and headed out into the work force. Here he found work clearing right of ways and clean up of leases, construction, and cat work. Working for a number of years for Bob Barker and Chester Vollmin and his brother Keith Schneidmiller. With this work experience, he became very well versed running a power saw and hard work.
He met and married Linda Christenssen , and they had two children, Kevin and Dawn.
The early years were spent ski doing in the Winter and biking in the Summer ,for recreation, something he maintained doing in his latter years as well.
In 1999 he met Irene English, who became his partner for the next seventeen years and they lived on an acreage on the original quarter he grew up on. Here he started a business selling wood, and continued with this right up till his passing. Here he met a lot of people and always enjoyed “shooting the breeze” with them when they came to pick up a load of wood. Anyone who bought wood from Ernie ( at the Roost) knew to go early, as he always has a story to tell and one or two cold ones with them, while loading the wood.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vic and Jean Schneidmiller, and is survived by his partner, Irene English, his son, Kevin, and daughter Dawn, two grandsons, Steven and Wyatt, brother Keith /Cheryl Schneidmiller, sister Marilyn/Dale Phillips , neice Maxine Gallais, and nephews Craig and Travis Phillips.
As per his wishes a funeral wasn’t held but instead a private family service.
