Mrs. Veronica Jean Foldy (McKay) of Penhold, Alberta passed away in Innisfail, Alberta on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at the age of 80 years. Veronica was born in Calgary Alberta on September 27, 1942, to her parents, Stewart and Marjorie McKay. Veronica’s life was full, she loved her family, hockey, animals, dancing, country music, and chuckwagon races. During her spare time, she could be found sewing, doing crafts, and baking. Veronica was true to her Baptist faith and welcomed everyone into her life with unconditional love. She put a smile on everyone’s face that she got to know. Veronica was married to Gerald ‘Jerry’ Matychuk on September 30, 1961, and together, they had three children, Stewart, Rhonda, and Linda. Jerry passed away in 1985. She met John Foldy and on April 28, 1990, they were married and lived in the Raven, Alberta area until their recent move to Penhold, Alberta. Veronica will be lovingly remembered by her husband John Foldy, and her son, Stewart (Laura) Matychuk of Kelowna, British Columbia, Rhonda Barnett of Blackfalds, Alberta, and Linda Matychuk of Calgary, Alberta. Veronica was Gramma Ronnie to her two grandchildren, Thomas James (Jill) and Sam(Taylor), and two great-grandchildren, Blake and Jade. She will also be lovingly remembered by her sister, Muriel Gray, and her niece Kristen and nephew, Colin, as well as her brother-in-law Val (Joanne) Foldy and their sons. Veronica was also known as Nana to some very special people in her life, Alexandra and Sophia, and the whole Reginato family. She will also be missed by her cousin, Ellen Walton, her best friend, Gina Haylow, and numerous family and friends. Veronica was predeceased by her parents Stewart and Marjorie McKay, and her brothers-in-law Wayne Gray, Ludwig Foldy, and Anthony Foldy.
