Thelma Madiline Ohlhausen
Thelma was born to Ed and Ada Vetter of the Sunnyslope area on January 21, 1928. She passed away on September 11, 2023 while in long term care at the Rosefield Center in Innisfail at the age of 95. She was the oldest of three siblings.
Thelma was raised on the Vetter family farm near Sunnyslope. She was raised to be an academic so after attending the Buckeye and Three Hills schools, she attended Normal School in Calgary to become a teacher. At the age of 18 she became a school teacher and taught at numerous one room school houses before taking a position at the Bancroft School when she made arrangements to board with the Ohlhausen Family where she met the love of her live, Eddie Ohlhausen. They were married on July 21, 1950 in Three Hills. She later taught at Linden and Midway. Thelma and Eddie farmed in the Bancroft area until Eddie passed away at which time she moved to Olds. At the age of 90 she moved with her family to Summerside, PEI. where she resided until returning to Olds in 2020. She ended her days in the Rosefield Care Center in Innisfail.
She was an academic her entire life always striving to learn more about the world, current events, different ponts of view and geography. Her smile could light up an entire room. She was always grace under pressure.
Thelma was predeceased by her husband (Eddie), brother Bob Vetter, sister-in-law Marj Vetter, brother-in-law Mearl Falk and nephew Thomas Falk.
She is survived by her sisters Shirley (Charlie) Whatley and Faith (Mearl) Falk, daughter Debbie Ohlhausen, son-in-law Patrick Hemminger and grandson Parker Dylan Hemminger who was the light of her life. Also, many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews will miss her deeply.
We will never forget what you brought to our lives.
