Obituary for Stine Marie Patko

It is with great sadness that we announce that our mother, Stine Marie Patko (ne Orwold), has gone to be with the Lord, at 96 years young, on April 8, 2022 at the Didsbury Long Term Care.
She was born in Tilley, Alberta, on the farm during a snowstorm, on January 20, 1926 to August and Neilsina Orwold (ne Huseby), from Rygge and Tjolling, Norway.
Stine was pre-deceased by husband, John James Patko and her son, Timothy James Patko. She is survived by Stephen John Patko (son), Georgina Patko (daughter-in-law), Laura Marie Sargent (daughter) and Larry Sargent (son-in-law), Hope Greta De Witt (daughter) and Michael De Witt (son-in-law), together with many grand-children and great-grand-children to the 5th generation.
Stine graduated from Olds School of Agriculture (Olds College) in 1946. While there she met and married her husband John, also a graduate. They farmed for many years, raising their children, Stephen, Laura and Tim. Their fourth child, Hope, came along later.
Stine was an avid reader, artist, and part of many groups over the years. Her favorites being the Friends of the Didsbury Library and the Red Hats of Alberta. She also was a lover of gardening, travel and animals. She lived in many places, finally settling in Didsbury, Alberta.
Over her life, Stine had many struggles and hardships, but she never lost her faith. Even in her last days, she kept her faith strong. Stine left this world peacefully in the arms of her youngest daughter. Until we meet again, may your course be clear sailing in fair winds. You will be sorely missed mom.
Donations can be made to the Didsbury Wild Rose Humane Society, The Bear Valley Rescue Center or The Friends of the Didsbury Library. Condolences may be left at the Heartland Funeral Home website.
