Obituary for Ryan Clinton Beck

Ryan Clinton Michel Beck was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta on August 30, 1977. He passed away in Sundre, Alberta on September 21, 2021, surrounded by family. Ryan is survived by his wife, Adrienne (nee Ulrich); sons Donovan and Gavin; mother Arlene Sequoia (Betty); father Mike Beck; brother Dustin (Kiara) and sister Jayda; brother –in –law Ryan Ulrich (Twyla); nephew Oscar and nieces Megan and Penelope. Ryan dedicated his life to teaching Science and had a profound impact on Eaglesham School and Sundre High School. His passion inspired hundreds of students, his coaching pushed them, and his compassion nurtured them into their bright futures. He went above and beyond every day, working with the Physics Institute of Canada (PI) and the Canadian Light Source to provide his students with an unparalleled education. On the same day he was diagnosed with cancer, he received the prestigious CAP award for teaching excellence in Physics. Ryan’s love of music was expressed with a euphonium (no ordinary instrument for him) in the Medicine Hat City Band. His selfless devotion to community led him to be a volunteer firefighter in Eaglesham. His desire for high school to be a positive and welcoming experience for all people gave rise to the Leos, a high school leadership club. He was a proud member of the Sundre Lions and Shindo Kempho Karate-Do, often teaching martial arts classes after school. Ryan was a dedicated father and husband who shared his passions with his family; hiking, hunting, fishing, technology, the environment, pyrotechnics, music, martial arts and games. He lived life bigger and fuller in the past 22 years than most people do in a lifetime. Donations in Ryan’s name can be made to Sundre Hospital Futures.
