Obituary for Robert "Bob" Walter Disney

ROBERT WALTER DISNEY
Sadly, the family of Robert Walter Disney is announcing his passing on January 21, 2021. Bob was born in Calgary and lived in Turner Valley until his early teens. Bob grew up with four brothers - Don (Laurie); Alan (Ruth); Bill (Chris) and Dave (Julie). The family then moved to Drayton Valley where his Dad worked in the oil and gas industry and Bob attended high school. He worked for Goliad, MidWestern, Superior Compression, Energy Industries, retiring from Weir Canada in 1995. Bob and Norma enjoyed ten years living in the Shuswap, near Salmon Arm, B.C. where Bob was an avid volunteer for the White Lake Fire Department and the cabin became their home. In 2004, it was back to Alberta and settling in Carstairs to be closer to their children and granddaughter. Many hours were spent at the Carstairs Museum. Bob loved to golf and for many years arranged the Carstairs Legion Golf Tournaments. In 2012, Bob and Norma were named Carstairs Family of the Year and in 2017 became Alberta Provincial Stick Curlers of the year. Bob walked the streets in Carstairs for several years when he was canvassing for Citizens on Patrol. He enjoyed doing this and met many friendly people and became president of Citizens on Patrol for several years. Bob became a life member of the Carstairs Legion Branch #53 in 2017. This was for recognition of the many, many hours that he spent doing maintenance for the branch. Every table was in place, every pile of coasters was arranged correctly and the pop coolers were always full! He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. We love you Bob - rest in peace. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Norma (Olberg); daughter Kathy; son Philip (Carolyn); precious granddaughter Grace Kelsey and grandsons Brayden and Gabe (Bobbie). He was predeceased by his daughter Kelsey Lynn in 2002 and his parents Bob in 1967 and Ileen in 1987. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of choice.
