Obituary for Richard Allen Casebeer

CASEBEER, Richard
Richard Allen Casebeer passed away on November 23, 2020 in Olds at the age of 63 years. Richard was born on August 16, 1957 in Didsbury to parents Elwood and Betty Casebeer. Richard and his parents lived on the farm in Cremona and Richard attended the Horizon School in Olds. He enjoyed being outside on the farm and visiting with his cousins. When Richard grew older, he moved to Red Deer and then to Youngstown for the special care that he needed and was able to enjoy visits at home with his parents and extended family. In 1998, Richard moved back to Olds as a resident with the Olds Association for Community Living. He was pleased to be back closer to family and he had many remarkable caregivers through his years in Olds. He enjoyed activities and events such as bowling, fishing, movies, Flames games, summer camps, Christmas parties and a special trip on a Disney Cruise. Richard was happy and generous with his smile, and his eyes would light up when visitors arrived at the house. He was fortunate to have an amazing house family in Olds that included roommates Jonathan and Brian, and several incredible caregivers most recently; Trish, Justin and Nicky. He cherished all the friendships, fun and memories he made through OACL. Richard is survived by his Aunt Joyce Casebeer and his Casebeer cousins Darwin, Dorie, Leanne, Dwane, Doug, Lori and Colin and their families. He was predeceased by his parents Elwood Casebeer and Betty Casebeer; Uncles Mernus & Loyd Casebeer; Aunt Lois Casebeer and his cousin Joanne Barrack(nee Casebeer). Richard’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Olds Association for Community Living, and all of his caregivers over the years, we will be forever grateful to Richard’s family at the house in Olds; Trish, Nicky, and Justin. Heartfelt thanks go out to Dr. Dykin for her compassion and care , and to the homecare nurses for their help in caring for Richard. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a small private service will be held with a celebration of life planned for family and friends in 2021.
