Obituary for Norma Disney

Norma Disney September 30, 1943 – December 31, 2022
Sadly, the family of Norma Jean (Olberg) Disney is announcing her passing on December 31, 2022. Norma was born in Viking, Alberta and was raised in Edmonton. Norma grew up with one brother Don. The family then moved to Drayton Valley in her early teens. This is where she met Robert “ Bob” Disney, they were married in 1963. She then relocated to Calgary where she raised her three children.
Norma started her career at Mount Royal College in administration. She was also instrumental in running the Flowers of Hope Campaign for many years, Norma and Bob owned and operated a successful cleaning company for many years. Then Norma completed her career as Chief of Accounts Payable for Marks Work Wear House where she retired in 1996.
Norma and Bob enjoyed eight years of living at White Lake, near Salmon Arm, BC. In 2004 it was back to Alberta, settling in Carstairs to be closer to her children and granddaughter.
In 2012 Norma and Bob were named Carstairs Family of the Year and in 2017 become Alberta Provincial Stick Curlers of the year. Norma spent some time with Bob as a volunteer for Citizens on Patrol. She spent many years holding several positions at the legion from 2005 to 2019. Most notably, she was President of RCL #53 from 2014 – 2018 and received her Life Membership in 2020.
Norma will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was not only a great Wife, Mom and Grandma she became involved in every community she lived in. Every community needs a Norma. We love you, Rest In Peace. Norma is survived by her Daughter Kathy, Son Philip (Carolyn), Granddaughter Grace and Grandsons Brayden and Gabriel (Bobbi). She was predeceased by her husband Bob in 2021 her daughter Kelsey in 2002 and her parents mom Lorena (Len) in 2009 dad Gordon (Minni) 1997 and brother Donnie in 2019.
There will be a celebration of life for Norma and Bob in Carstairs on January 14, 2023 at the Legion Branch #53. Please join us to celebrate their lives, share stories and memories between 1-5pm. Internment will happen at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of your choice.
