Obituary for Marion Laura May Leischner

Marion Laura May Schafer Leischner was born in Didsbury on Aug 20, 1940 to Valentine and Ella Schafer. She was raised with her brothers Ken, Gordon, Mervin and Howard on the family farm east of Olds. Her love of music developed as a young child when she learned to play piano. She attended school in May City and Torrington. After high school she began working at a shoe store in Olds, and later as a bank teller at the Bank of Montreal.
Marion married Vic Leischner on Nov 6, 1965 and they began their life together on Poverty Hill north of Torrington. Together they raised three children Bonnie, Lori and Michael on the family farm. As a family they enjoyed camping trips, playing cards, and visiting with friends and family. Many invitations were extended for Sunday dinner at the farm. A welcoming hostess, all were welcomed with coffee, baking and laughter when they would drop in to visit (and made to sign the guest book!) Marion was ecstatic to become a Grandma, and perhaps her greatest joy was spending time with each of her nine grandchildren.
Marion accepted Jesus as her personal savior at a young age. A member of the Wimborne Alliance church, she regularly played piano and sang for worship, at funerals and other events. She lived her faith by always trusting her Heavenly Father and praying unceasingly. Marion demonstrated the light of Christ to others through her musical ability, friendship and love.
Marion is reunited with her husband Victor Leischner, her brother Gordon Schafer, her sister-in-law Gwen Schafer and her parents Valentine and Ella Schafer. She will be greatly missed by her children Bonnie Nicholson, Lori UIry (Kevin) and Michael Leischner (Natasha) and her grandchildren Montana, Kyler, Macartney, Jared, Felicity, Brynne, Jarrett, Brenna and Janaye.
