Obituary for Loretta Irene "Laurie" Stait (Hobbs)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Loretta ‘Laurie’ Stait nee (Hobbs) of Calgary, Alberta at Bethany Riverview on Friday, June 30, 2023 at the age of 75 years. Laurie was born on September 4, 1947, at Innisfail, Alberta to George and Edna Hobbs. When Laurie finished high school she moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where she met her husband, Gary. They married in Innisfail, Alberta and started their life in Saskatchewan where their three children were born. The RCMP life took them coast to coast until they retired in Kelowna, British Columbia where they enjoyed friends and extensive travelling, including trips to see their grandchildren as well as spending their winters in Arizona. Laurie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Bill (Kerri) Stait of Calgary, Alberta, her daughters, Stephanie (Robert) Knight of Russell, Ontario, Suzanne (Joe DiRocco) Stait of Cornwall, Connecticut and her seven grandchildren, Curtis, Ryan, Ethan, Mia, Vivienne, Brooke and Will. She will also be deeply missed by her brothers, Ken and Dale Hobbs, and her sister, Cheryl Lawrence. Laurie is predeceased by her husband Gary Stait and her parents, George and Edna Hobbs.
