He then went on his own and purchased a Kenworth truck and moved various amounts of equipment throughout Central Alberta. Laverne’s final career of thirty-seven years was with Border Paving Ltd out of Red Deer, Alberta, where he enjoyed traveling the countryside building roads. He later found his life companion, Grace Vanderhooft, with whom he spent the last thirty years of his life residing in Innisfail, Alberta. They spent their days baking, camping, visiting with friends and family, and enjoying each other’s companionship with their dog, Sadie.
