Obituary for Kay Margaret Solland

Kay Solland passed away peacefully on June 15 with family by her side. Kay was born in Namaka, Alberta on September 1, 1934 to Herbert and Helen Wiens. On June 14, 1952 Kay married Mel Solland and moved to the New Hill area, where they raised their family and lived for almost 60 years. Kay was a talented musician and could often be heard singing or playing her saxophone, guitar or piano. Kay's greatest joy was her family, and the best memories were made when family and music came together.

Kay is survived by her loving sons, Leigh (Jennifer) Solland, Lyle (Barb) Solland, and Glenn (Michelle) Solland; grandchildren Wendy (Chad) Solland-Hurlbut, Jamie (Jamshed) Khory, Angela Solland, Tim (Jocelyn) Solland, Jono (Kate) Solland, and Steven (Sarina) Solland; and great granddaughters Eliana and Lyla Khory, and Sloane Solland. Kay is also loved and remembered by her brother, Ted Wiens, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, neighbours and friends. Kay was predeceased by her husband, Mel; grandson, Peter; sister, Ethel; sister-in-law, Ruth; and nephew, Rob.

As per Kay's wishes, there will be no funeral services. For those wishing to honour her in some way, a donation to the donor's personal choice is appreciated.
