Mr. Brooke Johnson of Penhold, Alberta passed away at the Innisfail Health Centre on Tuesday, August
29, 2023 at the age of 73 years. He was born in Taber, Alberta on December 12, 1949. Brooke was raised on the family farm in Barnwell, Alberta. He attended Barnwell school from grades One to Nine. He then transferred to W.R. Meyers in Taber, Alberta. Brooke received a Journeyman Certificate as a Heavy Duty Mechanic from SAIT. He was a self-taught welder, tiler, carpenter, wood worker and electrician. Brooke loved renovating and helped family and friends over the years with numerous projects. He loved to have family dinners and loved cooking gourmet meals. He also loved hunting, fishing, and many trips throughout his life with his many friends. Upon retirement Brooke and Josie spent many happy winters touring in their beloved motor home ‘Optimus Prime’. Brooke loved their daughters and son-in-laws and spent many holidays and weekend campouts together. But most of all Brooke loved his grandchildren, they were the center of his universe. Brooke is lovingly remembered by his wife, Josie Johnson of Penhold, Alberta, his daughters, Lana (Dave) Johnson Ventnor of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Andi (Clint) Johnson Morlock Of Delia, Alberta and Tricia (Jeremy) Johnson Nichols of Valemont, Alberta as well as his grandchildren, Kertsen, Jessie, Cole, Carson, Makayla, Keaton and Jace and his great grandchildren, Emmit and Elias. He will be deeply missed by his brother, Martin (Caroline) Johnson of Barnwell, Alberta and his sisters, Sandra Atkins, Hollis (Don) Ehmann of Edmonton, Alberta and Tammy Johnson of Lethbridge, Alberta. Brooke is predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Silvia Johnson, his cousins Fred Stayk, Gary Martin and numerous aunts, uncles and friends. A Celebration of Brooke’s Life will be held at the Penhold Memorial Hall, 1123 Fleming Ave, Penhold, Alberta T0M 1R0 on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Brooke’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 325 Manning Rd NE #200, Calgary, AB T2E 2P5.
