June 16, 1951 – March 27, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, our dear dad and proud pake. Geert was born on June 16, 1951 in Leeuwarden, Holland and grew up on a farm with his 2 sisters and 1 brother. He was an honest man with love for nature and animals. He married his wife Willie in 1972 and together they had 2 boys. They farmed in Holland for 14 years and moved to Canada in 1999, where they started a new life. The boys started their own families and then came the grandkids, he loved dearly. Geert loved going in the fields trapping moles and going out west on his side by side. We will miss his witty nature and caring love. He leaves behind his wife Willie of nearly 50 years; sons Yde (Carla); Oane (Kayley) and his grandchildren Ashton, Katja, Allana (Jamon), Chantal, Sean. A service will be held on April 5, 2022 at 1pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #105, Olds, AB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
