VOLLMIN, Florence Annie
Florence Annie (Ward) Vollmin, long time resident of Sundre, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020 at the age of 93 years. Florence was born in Orillia, Ontario to Wilfred and Elizabeth Ward on February 27, 1927.
She married Chester Vollmin in Orillia, Ontario on June 11, 1947, returning to Sundre by train. Mom enjoyed quilting, crocheting and working on puzzles. We could always count on helping to put in a few pieces when we visited. All her kids and grandkids received quilts and doilies from her and she always enjoyed donating her doilies for a raffle prizes.
She was a member of the McDougal Chapel, volunteered as long as she was able at the Thrift Shop, delivered Meals on Wheels and enjoyed her TOPS group. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Elizabeth Ward; brother in law Doug Hanks; her husband Chester (2007); daughter Linda Mae (1963) and a granddaughter Patricia (1989).
Florence is survived by her children Sharon (Ron) Blain, Innisfail; Betty (Dale) Belt, Sundre; Ronald (Gloria) Vollmin, Red Deer; Gwen (Mel) Foat, Chestermere; Darlene (Jim) Muhlbeier, Rocky Mountain House; Leo (Sue) Vollmin, Sundre; Wayne (Maureen) Vollmin, Sundre; Murray (Michelle) Vollmin, Sundre; 21 grandchildren; 49 great-grand children; 2 sisters in Orillia, Ontario, Merriell Hanks and Linda (Allen); sister in law, Kay Vollmin; brothers in law, Bob and Sydney Vollmin; as well ass numerous nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Sundre Hospital Futures Fund, 709 1st NE Sundre, AB. T0M 1X0 or charity of choice.
