Florence Bernice Drain, the mother of Randy (Bonnie), Pam (Dave), Lindsay (Jamie), Mason, Crystal (Ray), Anette, has left this earth at the age of 86 to go and sing with the angels. Flo was born in Blairmore, AB to Angelina Duray (Sikina) and Nick Gregory. Angelina then married John Sikina and Flo was blessed with five siblings; Marianne, Janice, Kenny, Ron, and Janie. Flo grew into a beautiful young woman and caught the eye of John Bogen, whom she married and they had five children together. Some years later they separated and divorced. Flo later married Jim Drain from Blairmore and spent 20 years catering to him and his business. When this marriage ended, Flo devoted herself to the Royal Canadian Legion in Blairmore and Bellevue. She eventually became the president of the Ladies Auxiliary and held that title for a number of years. She spent many hours working the bar, the floor and the kitchen, cooking for steak night banquets and weddings. Every year was spent marching in the Remembrance Day Parade. Flo was a survivor of lung cancer when she was in her late 70’s. Unfortunately, Alzheimers was taking its toll and Flo was moved into the Blairmore Hospital Continuing Care Unit. When her oldest son Randy and wife Bonnie moved to Olds in 2019, they requested that Flo be transferred to LTC Unit at the Olds Hospital to be close to them. She was well taken care of at both hospitals that she lived at for most of 7 years. When the time was near, Flo’s daughter-in-law Bonnie was by her side holding her hand when she peacefully passed into Heaven. Flo was predeceased by her parents John and Angelina Sikina; brothers Kenny and Ron; sister Janice and many lifelong friends. She will be missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. At Flo’s request, there will be no service but a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
