Obituary for Elsey Anne Stoyberg (McCready)

Mrs. Elsey Anne Stoyberg passed away on the afternoon of December 20, 2019 with her family by her side. Elsey was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Isabella (May) and Harry McCready and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She met Elmer Stoyberg and they were married in 1958, this is when country life began for Elsey. She worked at the Spruce View Co-op and got to know the community members. Together they enjoyed being involved in many events in the community, having fires at their campground with family and friends, and Elsey especially loved listening to Elmer playing the guitar and the harmonica. After Elmer passed away in 2012, Elsey moved to Red Deer, she found her last years at Harmony Home and loved the care and kindness that they provided. Elsey will be lovingly remembered by her children: John (Fernanda), Richard (JoAnne), Darcy (Carol), Sharon, and Neil (Tracy), as well as fourteen grandchildren: Ashley (Kevin), Ainsley, Adam (Michaela), Camille (Clay), Sean, Zachary, Riley, Reid, Dana, Kellie (Trevor), Jodi, Mitchell, Carrie, Colton (Kendra) eleven great-grandchildren: Jesse, Weston, Carson, Paige, Addison, Henlee, Saidie, Jevioni, Jairen, Szofie and Saelem. Elsey is survived by her sisters in law: Doris Sorensen, Tova (Dewey) Lodewyk, brother in law Brian (Donna) Stoyberg and John Schmidt as well as numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces. She was predeceased by her loving husband Elmer, her sisters: Lois and Eileen and her brother Alfred (Phyllis).
