Obituary for Elmer Allan Spreeman

ELMER ALLAN SPREEMAN
Elmer passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre, Sylvan Lake on January 7, 2014 at the age of 98 years. Elmer was born on April 5, 1915 on the Thede homestead northwest of Didsbury to Allan and Lavina (Thede) Spreeman. He attended the Collholme school and completed Grade 11, which was an accomplishment in those days. In the late 1930’s, the family came west and rented land from the Hunter family in the Reed Ranch district. In 1944, they bought land southwest of Olds. Elmer attended Canadian Nazarene College in Red Deer, where he met Alice Weins. They were married on June 26, 1946 and spent most of their lives on the farm southwest of Olds. They raised a family of four and made their living with mixed farming. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Alice, brother Walter, sister Pearl, and daughter-in-law Carol. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Ken, Doug (Grace), Lana, Lauren (Angie), seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. Interment was held on January 10, 2014 at the Didsbury Cemetery. Memorial Services will be held at the Olds Church of the Nazarene, Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Darlene Hyatt officiating.
