Obituary for Donna Lynn Aarsby
AARSBY, Donna Lynn
March 3, 1954 – September 1, 2022
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Donna Lynn Aarsby on September 1, 2022 at the age of 68yrs. She is survived by her daughter Julie and her family (Cameron, Erik, and Ryan) her sister Brenda; her two nieces Nicole and Danielle. She was pre-deceased by her son Jason, in 2004. Donna was born in Calgary and raised on the family farm near Carstairs, Alberta. Upon graduation, Donna moved to Calgary to attend Henderson Business College. She returned to Carstairs to become a full-time homemaker, who was actively involved in the school and community. Once the children were older she found a new passion working with seniors at Chinook Winds Lodge. She continued in this rewarding line of employment after she moved to Red Deer, Alberta. She also started her own cleaning business. In retirement, she worked and subsequently volunteered at a local soup kitchen/homeless shelter helping those in need. Donna was always a generous and compassionate soul. She would listen without judgement and offer to help anyone in need (sometimes to her own detriment). She was never the same after the death of her son. Donna found fulfillment through her work with those less fortunate. Friends, family, or complete strangers could look to Donna for that shoulder to cry on and unfettered compassion.
A funeral service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home in Red Deer at 1:00pm. Viewings will take place prior to the service for those who wish to say their goodbyes. Interment for close family members and friends will follow afterwards at the Alto Reste Cemetery in Red Deer. Donna will be laid to rest with her son Jason where they will be reunited. Rest in Peace.
