Its with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Donald William Wilson on January 18, 2023 with family by his side. Donald William Wilson was born on September 22, 1938 (84yrs) in Chevrie Nova Scotia to William and Phyllis Wilson. Don was the oldest of 3 children. On November 22, 1961 Don married the love of his life Shirley Ann Beckwith and on that same day they purchased their family farm. In 1977, Don and Shirley along with their 3 children packed up and headed west, they settled in Wainwright Alberta until 1984 making one last move to Olds, Alberta which was home until his passing. When Don wasn’t working as a Heavy Duty Mechanic he could be seen playing or singing Old Tyme Music, camping or fishing. He is survived by his wife Shirley of 61 years; 2 sisters Carolyn MacAulay of Truro Nova Scotia, Betty (Les)Beazley of Windsor Nova Scotia; a daughter Deborah Poynter of Bowden Alberta; 2 sons Derrick (Caroline) Wilson of Hanna Alberta, Stephen(Rochelle) Wilson of Olds, Alberta; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents William and Phyllis; brother-in-law John MacAulay and son-in-law Ross Poynter. A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Wednesday January 25, 2023 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 105, Olds at 1:00pm.
