Obituary for Debbie Jean Shippelt

It is with profound sadness that Debbie’s family announce her passing, after a short battle with cancer, on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at the age of 63 years. Debbie was born on April 8, 1959 at Edmonton, Alberta, to parents, Adrian and Shirley Lukas. After living in various places in Alberta, Debbie settled in Innisfail, Alberta in 1993. While in Innisfail, she worked at the Blue Bird Diner for nine years and at the Co-op Deli for twenty-one years. Innisfail is also where she raised her children and stepchildren. Debbie enjoyed the simple things in life, camping, walking, crafts, her cat, Mocha, and most of all, her children and grandchildren. Debbie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Christopher (Jessica) Mertick and their children, Adrian and Lincoln, her daughter, Katrina (Greg) Nickel and their children, Taylor, Carmine, Kaylynn and Zarrick, her stepsons, Patrick Shippelt, and Justin (Mindy) Shippelt and their children, Mia and Grayson, her stepdaughter, Amanda Shippelt and her children, Damien, Landhon, and Kaden, and her stepmother, Shirley Lukas. She will also be deeply missed by her brother, Peter Lukas, her sister, Alida (Wolfgang) Wambeck, and her nieces, Heather (Chance) Wambeck and Cheryl (Eric) Bendrien. Debbie was predeceased by her parents, Adrian and Shirley Lukas, and her loving partner, Robert McInnes. A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 104, 5108 – 49 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Debbie’s honor may be made directly to the Innisfail Kinsmen Club, 5112 – 49 Avenue, Innisfail, Alberta, T4G 1R1.
