Obituary for David Arthur "Dave" Johnston
It is with great sadness that the family of Dave Johnston announces his passing in Olds, Alberta on Saturday, October 15, at the age of 89 years.
Dave was born in Rouleau, Saskatchewan. From the age of three, Dave grew up in the Summerberry area on the family farm. At a young age, he joined his Dad working on the farm, which was his life for 55 years. Dave married Cathy Lockie on March 24, 1958, and had three sons.
Dave, an avid horseman, was an active member of the Grenfell Riding Club, and was a very familiar face driving his team of percherons for sleigh rides in Grenfell and Wolseley.
Dave and Cathy retired to Grenfell and enjoyed acreage life until 2019, when they moved to Olds, Alberta.
Dave is survived by his loving wife Cathy; sons John, Ed (Leona), and Gord (Darlene); seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held in Olds, and burial will be at Summerberry at a later date.
