1936 – 2023
Dale McCook passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Innisfail Alberta, at the age of 87 years.
Dale was born in Trochu, Alberta and raised in Huxley, Alberta. He graduated from the Huxley School and then attended the Olds College of Agriculture.
Dale worked many different jobs throughout his life including being a land assessor, truck driver, working with Imperial Oil and Bow Valley Industries and he was a school bus driver for twenty-eight years. He retired farming the land he loved and grew up on.
Dale played all sports at a young age, with a passion for baseball and hockey. Many stories are still told of the escapades of Huxley Ball and Trochu Arena Hockey teams he was part of. He had a love of horses his entire life, owning and training racehorses and racing all over Alberta.
Dale married Dorothy Johnson of Huxley, Alberta and they raised a family of three boys. They made their homes in Calgary, Fort McMurray, Huxley and retired to Innisfail, Alberta. They enjoyed travelling in their motor home, camping and rodeoing with their many dear friends and family. He had a quick wit and was always ready with a joke.
Dale will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of sixty-five years, Dorothy, his sons, Lonnie (Donna) McCook, Leonard (Lorine) McCook, and Chuck (Sandy) McCook. His grandchildren, Ashley (Peter) Feldberg, Dustin (Brittany) McCook, Danielle (Kyle) Tolman, Randi McCook (Clint) and Emily McCook (Scott). His great grandchildren, Evertt, Ellis and Ruari Feldberg, Paisley and Pryce McCook, Rhett, Brooke and Emmersyn Tolman. He will also be missed by his siblings, Louise Allison, Doug (Joan) McCook, Brian (Jan) McCook, and his in-laws, Fay (Marc) Frere, Shirley (Val) Weber.
A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
