Obituary for Beverley Bonney Cheesmur

BEVERLEY CHEESMUR, our beloved Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandmother, peacefully went home to Jesus on Sunday, July 5th, 2020, surrounded by family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Gillian (aka Jill, and Garry) Brett and Elizabeth (aka Liz, and Al) Cunningham; grandchildren: Janell (and Dan Cleroux) Packer, Jeremy (and Jolene Packer, Karla (and Andrew) Reimer, Shawn Packer, Megan (and Todd) Donaldson, and Jeff (and Haylee) Cunningham, and step-grandson, Alex (and Sheena) Brett; as well as 22 Great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 52 years, Bob Cheesmur, fondly known as Rev; by her sister, Rachel, and brother, Paul, both formerly of the USA; and by a Great-grandson, Ty. In addition to being a loving “Granny” as her family fondly called her, Bev was a dedicated nurse, who loved music and loved her church. From the age of 4, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her, a shining example of what Christ wants us to be like. As one friend put it, “(Bev) was a pastors wife / community builder and supporter of all”; she was constantly looking for ways to help those in need. She was a humble, kind, and loyal person who lived a life full of stories and adventures from around the world, as her and her husband also shared a passion for traveling. They served together as missionaries in Nigeria from the time they were married there in 1955, until 1969, when they permanently settled in Didsbury and eventually dug their heels in at Bergen, ministering to their community with selflessness. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 10th, at Bergen Missionary Church, south of Sundre, Alberta. Memorial donations may be made in Beverly Cheesmur's name to "Westview Care Community, (Box 220, Linden AB T0M1J0). The family wishes to send a special and sincere thank you to the staff at Westview Care Community for their extraordinary care and compassion towards Beverley during the years she lived under your labor of love. “See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.” (Exodus 23:20)
