Dale Steckly passed away peacefully at Bethany Lodge on March 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving children. Dale enjoyed ninety-four trips around the sun prior to rejoining the love of his life (Dorothy Eileen) to whom he was married for sixty-two wonderful years. He is survived by his children, Stephen, Katie (Carl Cramer), Charles (Teri), Brent (Jan), and Graham (Bonnie). He is also predeceased by his son, Vilas. He will be dearly missed by his ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. His parents, Alvin and Lilly had five children: Dale, David (deceased), Bill, Shirley, and Marilyn. A private family celebration will be held on Monday, March 27th.
Until retiring, he farmed the land next to his birthplace west of Carstairs. Dale was instrumental in the formation of the Alberta Poultry Marketing Board and served for twenty years on the board of Lilydale. He and his wife supported West Zion Mennonite Church where he will be interred next to his wife Dorothy Eileen.
Dale was always willing to lend a hand to family, friends, and neighbours. Many were inspired by his wisdom, generosity and kindness, striving to model Jesus’ example as he lived out his Christian life.
The family thanks the incredibly kind-hearted staff at Bethany Lodge for their tender loving care of Dale during the last years of his life. As Dale would have said, “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
