Obituary for Anthony John Albert "Tony" Bluck
Anthony (Tony) Bluck passed away at peace on February 1, 2020 at the age of 89 years.
Tony was the sixth out of 8 children of John and Winnifred Bluck and grew up on the family farm in
Murray Valley, west of Olds.
After marrying Patricia Reid of Valeview in July 1954, he worked a few farm jobs before they headed
to Calgary where Pat taught school and Tony earned a welder's ticket and was a welder for 13 years.
Both being farmers at heart, they worked together to return with their four children to the farming life
in 1967, only a few miles west of where Tony grew up. He so loved the life that he only stopped
farming when his health no longer cooperated.
The mixed farm was very much a family operation until his children were grown. He then farmed with
his son, Dan. He enjoyed planting and combining crops. He finished top quality steers in his feedlot
and had many loyal buyers of his good square hay bales.
Tony often said the years starting out farming with his young family were the best years of his life and
how grateful he was for the neighbours and local businessmen that helped him and Pat get started.
Tony was a big believer in supporting the local community and was always willing to lend a hand or a
welding repair job for the neighbours.
His children could not have asked for a more caring and supportive father who stayed involved
throughout their lives. His inner child was so evident with his grandchildren whether playing
boardgames, flying toy airplanes, fox and goose in the winter or tea in the playhouse.
He was predeceased by Pat, his wife of 56 years in 2011 and will be held in the hearts of his children
Ken (Laura), Dan (Meina), Kelly and Lorene (Brett) Caukill, grandchildren, Cam (Stephanie) Bluck,
Zachary, Reid, Aubrie, Owen and Cadie Caukill and great granddaughters, Hadley and Sylvie, sister
Margaret Zimmerman, brother and sister-in-law Ken and Pat Reid, and sister-in-laws Delores (Paul)
Bluck, Marion Weight and Jean Reid along with numerous nephews and nieces.
