Mary Alexandria Ness was born July 11, 1923 in the Nitchie Valley west of Bergen, Alberta. Mary arrived in Glory on November 12, 2019. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Only God was more important to Mary than her family. Mary was a wonderful cook and loved baking. She regularly participated in ladies groups from church. She enjoyed quilting and sewing as well as altering clothing.
Mary was an active partner with her husband in operating Clarence’s Shoe and Saddlery in Didsbury. Mary spent her life in service of others and enjoyed it! For many years she single handedly took care of her husband Clarence who was in a wheelchair and helped care for her grandsons all while keeping a big vegetable garden. Mary is lovingly remembered by her son, Chuck (Josee’) Payne; daughter, Rhonda (Wilf) Pedersen; grandsons, Shaun (Pam), Shelby Payne, Kyle (Taren) Hamm and Kurtis (Darylann Hill) Hamm; great-grandchildren Kayleen, Samantha, Brendan, Christian, Alexander Gracie, Elora, Bella, Dakota and Sawyer; brothers, Ivan (Gwen) Gamble, Walter (Lillian) Gamble and Ira ( Wilda) Gamble as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Robert (Bob) Payne and second husband, Clarence Ness; parents, Ira and Anna Gamble; mother in law, Josephine Ness; sisters Grace (Bob) Stevens, Florence (Howard & Bert) Gilmore and Ferrell (Trygve) Haug; brothers, Bill (Olive) Gamble, Alvin (Valerie) Gamble, John (Lydia) Gamble, James (Bertha) Gamble, Clarence (Rose) Gamble; daughter in law, Rita Payne and son in law, Calvin Hamm.
