Obituary for Gary Charles Darroch

Gary Charles Darroch
1951 - 2017

Gary Charles Darroch, most recently of Sundre Alberta and formerly of Cochrane Alberta, passed away after a lengthy illness on Friday, March 3 2017 at the Red Deer Hospital Intensive Care Unit. He was born in Calgary, Alberta on April 23 1951, the only child of Charles and Viola (Toots) Darroch.

Gary was a character - incredibly intelligent – an avid reader and a history buff. Gary was also a very good singer and he loved to perform at the Cochrane Legion karaoke and then later at the Sundre Stetsons Saloon karaoke nights.

Gary was a member of the Cochrane Legion for over 30 years and very much enjoyed his Cochrane Legion comrades and pints. He served the Legion as Branch President, various roles on the executive and he played in the The Cochrane Men of Vision Pipes and Drums.

Gary leaves behind his best friend for the past 14 years Rose Jenic; his three children Jennifer, Rebecca and Charles; his cousins Vicki (Turk) Deeton and Ron (Judy) Fenton and numerous other relatives and dear friends.

We are deeply appreciative of the hard work and care of all the doctors and nursing and dietary and ancillary services personnel at the Sundre and Red Deer Hospitals and especially Dr Bill Ward, Gary’s doctor at Greenwood Family Physicians in Sundre.

Heartland Funeral Services is arranging cremation services.

A gathering to celebrate Gary’s life will be held at the Cochrane Legion on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.
