Obituary for Susan Frances Oates

Susan Frances Oates
SUSAN OATES
May 29, 1942 - May 29, 2018
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that Sue’s family announce the passing of their loving mother and grandmother on May 29, 2018 at the age of 76 years. In Sue’s words, “I was given the gift of life and now must give it back. Do not grieve for me, I have fought the fight and have reached the finish line and now I am pain free. It is with great sadness I leave you. I led a full busy life, working, homemaking and doing volunteer work. For many years I volunteered at the Grande Prairie Hospital both in Pediatrics and Emergency as well as at the Odessy House Woman’s shelter. I also did arts and crafts which I sold at local farmers markets. We moved to Sundre in 2000, where I started volunteering at the Sundre Hospital Long Term Care. I then moved on to volunteer at the Sundre Ladies Auxiliary Thrift Store and became a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. Looking back on my life my greatest joy was raising my family and having precious grandchildren. Being a “Nana” gave me more joy and happiness than words can say. I was a homebody and didn’t like to travel far but we were a camping family from the time the kids were babies. I am so very proud of my family, they’ve all grown into successful adults and their children are following in their footsteps. I am survived by my loving partner James Morrow; son Mark(Sheryl); daughters Karen(Paul) Christensen, Kim Buchanan; beloved grandchildren Maia(Carson), Kaylie(Colton), Paul Jr., Tana, Meagan, Cody and great grandson Jaxton”. Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday June 5, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Sundre United Church, with Reverend Tammy Allan officiating. Heartland Funeral Services Ltd., Sundre entrusted with arrangements. 403-638-4393 www.heartlandfuneralservices.com
