Obituary for Agnes Robertson Yewell

YEWELL
Agnes was born June 18, 1921 in Olds and passed away January 12, 2017 in Red Deer. She was a lifelong resident of the Olds area. Agnes’ parents, John and Alice Thomson, immigrated from Scotland and settled in the Olds area. Agnes was raised on the family farm west of Olds with four siblings Effie, Jack, Wylie and Jim. She attended elementary school at Hainstock and then high school in Olds. On December 3, 1941 Agnes married Edwin Yewell. They built a life together on their farm west of Olds. Edwin and Agnes had five children: Ronald (deceased 2000), Anita (Gordon), Jeanette (deceased 1951), Ken (Jane), and Gary (Janice). Her beloved Edwin passed in 1976. Agnes attended SAIT later in her life, obtaining a 2-year diploma as a Dietary Technician and went on to manage the dietary services at Olds College. She was an avid gardener, traveller, and birder. She knit and sewed for her family for many years making parkas, mittens, toques and sweaters. Agnes was a writer who recorded many creative memories and stories of her life, her family and her many trips. Agnes lived on the farm she built with Edwin until the age of 85, she then moved to Legacy Village in Olds and later to the Mountview Lodge. Agnes is survived by her large family including her three children and their spouses, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her close and loving friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 20, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Olds United Church with Reverend Tammy Allan officiating. Memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of choice.
