Obituary for Robert Alexander Mooney

Robert (Bob) Alexander Mooney, 78, of Olds, passed away on January 30, 2016 at the Rosefield Long Term Care Centre in Innisfail. Bob was born in Didsbury to Ivan and Olive Mooney, the 4th of 6 siblings. He earned a degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Alberta in 1961. Bob spent his career working as a Professional Engineer for Imperial Oil/Exxon in Canada, Australia and the United States. Bob enjoyed golfing, curling, sailing, home improvement, gardening, and contemplating the cosmos. He loved lively conversation, storytelling, terrible puns, laughter, and the company of friends. Bob will be missed by his wife of 51 years, Mary Jane; daughters Nancy and Jennifer, son-in-law Darren Lewis; brother Jack Mooney; sisters Jean Leple and Patricia Greene as well as his extended family and many friends. Special thanks to the staff at the Centennial Centre and the Rosefield Centre for taking good care of Bob. At Bob’s request there will be no funeral. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
